The Sunrise Energy project is a key component of Husky Energy’s oilsands program. Husky and BP PLC are equal partners in the Sunrise Energy project, with Husky operating Sunrise.
The Sunrise Energy project is located 60 kilometres northeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta. The project will produce 200,000 barrels of bitumen per day using steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technology. Phase 1 will produce about 60,000 barrels of bitumen per day.
In 2012, Bantrel was awarded the design basis memorandum (DBM) and front-end engineering and design (FEED) for the next phase of the Sunrise Energy project.
