Bantrel was retained by Centerra Gold to provide engineering and procurement services for the Kemess Mines Tailings Disposal Facilities Project. Bantrel's scope consisted of tailings pumps, pipelines with the associated facilities for transporting tailings up to 60,000 short tons/day from the mill site to tailings impoundment area located approximately 7 kilometers from the mill. Reclaimed water from the tailings impoundment was to be returned to the process water pond near the mill for reuse. Two 26” tailings rubber-lined carbon steel pipelines were provided with two pump houses with two sets of pumps each to provide two trains for operational flexibility. Reclaimed water up to 26,000 US gpm from the tailings impoundment was pumped over the dike into a reclaim water tank from which reclaim water flowed by gravity to the Power Generation unit through a 42” HDPE pipeline.
