In October 2017, a site investigation discovered that the concrete cores within the production shaft had three fractures along the same planes that required remediation in the short, medium, and long term. Nakoda was contracted to fix the immediate 20-foot zone of concern by:
- Removing the concrete
- Installing ground support horizontally into the rock
- Installing a water collection system
- Installing a foundation to support the concrete
