Bechtel was retained to complete the construction of Vogtle Units 3 & 4 in 2017. When finished, Plant Vogtle’s four units will be the largest generator of carbon-free electricity in the U.S. Vogtle Units 3 & 4 will be the first advanced Gen III+ units built in the U.S. and are currently the only new nuclear units being constructed in the country. With Bechtel’s completion of Watts Bar Unit 2 in 2016 and selection to complete Vogtle 3 & 4, we are delivering the first two U.S. nuclear power plant projects of the 21st century. On Vogtle, Bechtel is responsible for completing construction of the project under the management of Southern Nuclear, the Southern Company subsidiary which operates the existing two units at Plant Vogtle. Bantrel Management Services Co. is providing construction management professionals for onsite execution.
