The Foster Creek facility is located in the Cold Lake region of northern Alberta.

The Foster Creek SAGD and Cogeneration project included the addition of an 80-megawatt cogeneration plant to provide additional power and steam to the steam-assisted gravity drainage facility.

In 2000, Bantrel was selected to provide full EPCM services, along with commissioning and start-up support services, for the cogeneration plant. The project included two gas turbine generator trains, each with a heat recovery steam generator.

Bantrel completed the project after over 200,000 hours worked without a lost-time injury. Upon completion, Bantrel received recognition from Encana (now Cenovus) for professional services, for completing the project on time and on budget, and for exemplifying the qualities associated with a successful project.
