The Turnaround planner will have experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions, which include schedule development, control, and analysis, in the field and the home office.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Work closely with supervision, engineering, field engineering and estimating in an EPC environment
Prepare detailed planning and in preparation for construction execution
Verify and validate project estimates including field verification for execution and routing
Assist in schedule development
Knowledgeable in planning / scheduling concepts like CPM, different types of logic / relationships, hard / soft constraints, preparation of schedule basis, schedule analysis (baseline vs current variance), schedule workarounds, SPI etc.;
Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule, and prepares and presents Schedule Change Notices (SCNs);
Reviews schedule data, and identifies and acquires the information needed to complete work logics to interface between assigned disciplines or specialties. Assists in developing specific project codes of accounts and work breakdown structures, and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions.
Develops and monitors short term engineering and/or construction schedules.
Monitors schedule deviation for assigned disciplines or specialties including subcontractor submittals, and recommends corrective action/workaround solutions for project considerations.
Develops and writes the schedule commentary that appears in the monthly progress and similar reports.
Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule, and prepares and presents the Schedule Impact Report (SIR).
Will provide assistance to the Lead Planner/Scheduler in development and implementation of a re-baseline should it be necessary. This would include input to re-forecasting of the project forecast.
Performs quantity and manpower resource loading for assigned schedules;
Conversant with both project and proposal schedule development.
A good understanding of safety requirements during TA execution.
Field verifies work described in Turnaround Scope and develops detailed work scope activities, with craft type and estimated hours, and plans.
Assesses job to understand the optimal plan to achieve turnaround premises including low cost and safety performance.
Obtain and review historical records of previously executed Turnaround jobs/work
Has the ability to creates bill of material for assigned work, requisitions material, and ensures all material is delivered before feed out of unit
Collates information and develops data for assessment, inclusion and planning the proposed Turnaround project.
From work requests and scheduled work requirements, develops the Turnaround scope of a preliminary schedule/step listing.
Monitors and maintains a continual update of the work requirements and requests, paying special attention to Contracts/Projects being run simultaneously or in conjunction with the current Turnaround.
Monitors items which could be potentially problematic with regard to execution and progress. Assists in the development of the planned schedule
Assembles work packages with detailed information for planning and execution. Identification, review, and escalation of high-risk activities.
Works with logistics engineer to prepares logistics plan for assigned area.
Ensures compliance to plant orders, policies and procedures including MOC, quality, and addenda processes.
Loads schedule logic to efficiently execute scope of work and resource levels the plan.
Works with Lead Scheduler to optimize the master schedule and to combine the TA schedules into one integrated TA schedule.
Completes estimate of Direct Field Labour hours, overheads, materials, and equipment for assigned area.
Communicates key issues and risks to the TA Leader.
Responsible for update of the schedule for assigned work activities (scheduler will actually input during execution)
Provides a critique of turnaround activities after completion of project, participates in Lessons Learned and Lookback process.
Is mindful of and continues to look for opportunities to reduce turnaround scope, and plan and execute with low cost mindset.
Technical school diploma, trades certificate or equivalent work experience;
5 to 10 years of experience in a planning / scheduling role;
Proficient in Primavera P6
Work face planning experience is an asset
Proficient in the use of computers for executing scheduling work processes;
Proficient in Excel and/or Access to perform import/ export to and from Primavera P6
Skilled in oral and written communication, with a demonstrated ability to present planning and scheduling information to supervision, management and clients.
Candidates possessing experience in an Engineering & Procurement environment with an EPC Organization will be given preference;
Experience in the Oil & Gas Industry is an asset.
Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems. Knowledgeable about current industry and technical developments.
