The SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the Electrical team are effectively using SPEL in an integrated SmartPlant environment. This includes maintaining SPEL templates, models, lookup tables, and interfacing with other SmartPlant programs. The coordinator is also expected to assist in the production of engineering deliverables.
This role will be based out of our Calgary, AB office.

Customization of single line diagrams, schematic templates, and PDB layouts in SPEL.
Revision management and comparison of single line diagrams and schematic templates in SPEL.
Implementation and customization of SPEL lookup tables, typical circuits, and other reference data.
Customization of electrical list and schedules in SPEL.
Revision management and comparison of electrical lists and schedules in SPEL.
Use of Import Manager, SPEL Rule Manager and SPEL Options Manager.
Integration of SPEL with other SmartPlant tools.
Development and checking of exception reports to identify discrepancies between SPEL and other SmartPlant databases.
SPEL database management including publishing and retrieving tag and vendor data extracted to/from SPF, SPRD, SPI, SPID, and/or entered directly in SPEL.
Qualifications and Experience:
B. Sc. or B. Eng. Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Technical College Graduate from an Electrical Engineering Program.
Minimum 10 years of project experience with 5+ years of direct experience using SmartPlant.
In-depth working knowledge of SPEL, including SmartPlant Enterprise work processes for electrical design.
Use of SPEL in an integrated SmartPlant environment.
Interface with other related software including SmartPlant Foundation (SPF), SmartPlant 3D (SP3D), SmartPlant P&ID (SPID), SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), and SmartPlant Materials (SPMAT).
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience in the Potash Industry would be an asset but not an absolute requirement.
