This opportunity is in based in the Augusta, Georgia area with a single-status company relocation to Georgia.
Bantrel has an exciting opportunity to send Electrical Superintendents to the Vogtle Electrical Generating Plant, located near Waynesboro, Georgia. The scope of work is the construction of a 2-unit nuclear power plant with a combined capacity of 2,400 MW. This project will allow Bantrel the opportunity to train and build nuclear capability into our teams as well as provide long term careers for interested individuals. The expected duration of these roles is 18+ months.
At the peak of construction, this vital project will employ up to 5,000 on site. These positions will include building tradespeople, engineers, field supervisors, construction and project managers, quality assurance professionals, safety professionals, procurement, subcontract specialists and many others.
This position may be required to work a schedule of rotating shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays. All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the facility is required.
The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the applicable discipline. Supervises and directs craft, craft supervisors and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction operations and contractors performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets. Primarily reports to Building Superintendent for daily scheduled work priorities, coordination between other disciplines and assigned building specific tasks. Also, reports functionally to Lead Electrical Discipline Superintendent for coordination of technical and site specific prioritization of work activities and craft crew distribution.
This position may be assigned to night shift, swing shift, and/or day shift and will require working overtime.
Provides senior leadership for environmental, safety, health, injury/accident and fire prevention on the project. This includes safety orientation, preparation of safety procedures and leading direct hire safety meetings.
Inspect building and area for unsafe conditions, behaviors and practices and take appropriate corrective action to mitigate and eliminate.
Coordinate safety training and enforce safe work behaviours and practices at all times in conjunction with the Environmental Safety and Health Supervisor.
Be the Champion for the ZERO accident program. Ensure that core processes and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
Ensure the applicable design document for electrical commodities such as raceway, cable tray, wire, and terminations are provided to direct hire craft personnel to complete work, and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
Responsible for the cost, schedule and optimization of craft labour and maintaining the four week look ahead schedule for labour and equipment.
Interface with Labor/Industrial Relations for craft recruitment and training programs. Approve workforce job requirements and review work accomplished by each craft.
Review craft time records using established automated tools.
Review and approve major equipment mobilization and demobilization.
Responsible for implementing corporate project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned electrical work activities or applicable project specific policies and procedures.
Coordinate with the General Foreman and Foreman to hire electrical craft labour to execute work.
Coordinate with other discipline superintendents with established building or area construction work activities and plans.
Lead the preparation and implementation of the 3-week look-ahead and four-week rolling schedule and budget control with support from Field Engineering and Project controls.
Provide input to Field Engineering for quantity tracking application and report weekly installed quantities.
Prepare material requisitions for tools and consumables and coordinate through Procurement to obtain these materials.
Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecasts.
Plan the manpower and equipment required to execute the kb.
Perform employee reviews and identify training and development opportunities for subordinate personnel.
Perform other duties as required by management.
Grade 15: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience, or 12 years of relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
Grade 16: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 9 years of relevant work experience, or 15 years of relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
Must be physically capable to conduct field inspections and participate in project walkdowns which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing in very small and/or confined spaces, and lifting up to 60 lbs.
Must be able to pass nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear power facility.
Must be a Canadian citizen
Basic to intermediate knowledge of EPC and EPCM construction programs, technologies, means and methods.
Basic to intermediate knowledge of supervisory functions relating to construction field activities.
Working knowledge with ASME NQA-1 1994, 2008 and Addendum 2009.
Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
Basic to Intermediate experience in construction management of nuclear power and non-reactor nuclear facility EPC projects.
